So TU has my first name spelled incorrectly and only reports my maiden name despite being married for nearly 11 years. I've recently joined NFCU under the correct spelling of my name and my married name. I'd like to apply for one of their cards, but am concerned that by using the correct spellings/variation of my name that isn't even REPORTED on TU that it'll be denied.
Will it despite the social being the same? Transunion has been very difficult with me in regards to getting it corrected -- they want me to fax a bunch of things I'm not necessarily comfortable faxing but what must be done, must be done, I guess.
I have been cursed with a difficult name as well. I snail mailed a copy of my SSN card and drivers license to the CRAs. Some were fixed. :/
IDK but IMO I would call NFCU or go in person to a branch to apply, therefore if a verification was needed, you'd either be there in person or perhaps verbally prove it's really you.
You can dispute to update your personal info and upload/mail docs. It was pretty fast when i did it.
I have had issues with this as well, and it can be a pain. The others have excellent suggestions on how to get it corrected.
I'll just add that NFCU pulls TU for new memberships, but will (usually) pull EQ for credit products. As long as your name problem is limited to TU and you already have your membership, you should be fine anyway.
Not sure how much of an issue it will be but you also need to ensure that you correct whatever is reporting the incorrect name, if there is still an account reporting it. Otherwise it will just reappear as it gets reported again,
