A couple years ago, I had a Navy FCU Visa with a 4700 CL.
I ran into some financial trouble on a few cards. Even though I had always paid Navy FCU on time, they closed down my card (I didn't understand why at the time but I do now).
I paid off the entire balance within a couple weeks and my CR's reflect a zero balance.
Now that I'm in better shape, I attempted to reopen my account and possibly reapply for the card I once had, but I was declined up front.
Is this due to blacklisting? I know I'm good on Chex.
What reason did they give you for closing your checking and/or savings account?
What was the reason for closing card, did you default on other lenders?
If you don't owe them money, I doubt you're truly blacklisted, most likely they need a bit more time to ensure your financial troubles are well past being over

do you have an active savings/membership with them now?
or did you need to reapply for membership along with the new card?
when you get the letter, it should have the denial reason/internal score

I apologize for any confusion; I'll clarify.
Navy FCU closed my Visa card (something about risk because some other card got charged off even though I had never been late with Navy FCU). I paid off the Visa quickly and was irritated enough with them closing it that I also closed out my checking and savings, both of which were also good (not that I had a mountain of cash but both were positive not negative balances ... Navy didn't get burned or have to eat anything)
So I was looking at rejoining the fold with an eye towards a possible new CC, but never got out of the gate.
It sounds like you aren't blacklisted in the usual sense, as you didn't burn them for anything but it might be they flagged your profile in some other way ( fraud?? ) such that you can't rejoin, or at least it will take more time maybe. How long ago did you close everything out at NFCU?
It's been a couple years.
I don't think there was any fraud involved but who knows anymore. And sometimes the online process can be wonky. I might just bite the bullet and call.

you might have to go through like a process to be reviewed based on the way your visa was AA'd
I would start just getting the savings account and membership reestablished and ensuring you haven't burned navy at all (unknowingly?)

Your suggestion makes sense.
Thank you 😊

I got busy the last few weeks but I finally called Navy FCU and I'm back in.
Thank you again everyone who offered wise counsel.
