Need advice/direction on an Equifax dispute issue

We hit hard times in early 2007, and pretty much stopped paying everything that in order to pay our mortgage. Well, it's 2014 and that means they're all 7 years old!!! Most items fell off, but there were a few lingering, so I filed disputes with all 3 bureaus. I also disputed 3 entries for my old student loans through GLHEC (1 entry is GLHEC's original account, and the other two are the collection accounts that were created when the parent/original account was moved to GLHEC's collection department- one entry for each year I took loans). My student loans had defaulted 6 years ago, but I finally paid them off a few months ago. I added them to the dispute saying they were paid and sent proof. The next day I decided to call GLHEC and spoke directly to the woman who manages reporting, she apologized and said she would send off confirmation to all 3 bureaus that day. Should have just called them first.

Experian changed them to paid the next day, Transunion followed after 4 days, but after 10 days Equifax still hadn't changed it. I called them and they confirmed that they have received the update of "Paid in Full" from GLHEC for all 3 accounts, but will not update how it is reported until either they hear back from all the creditors listed on my dispute (4 have not replied yet), or at the end of the 30 day period. EX and TU have been changing disputed items as they get them, and it looked like EQ was as well. The supervisor insisted that there was no way around this; wait the 30 days, or call the other 4 creditors who haven't responded and ask them to update their reporting. 2 random medical bills from 2006 and 2 small time collection agencies are left. I'm not having a lot of luck getting them to reply to EQ.

I know, I know.

I should have called GLHEC before filing the dispute.

I should have started the dispute a month ago. I'm learning.

I know I should just be patient, but this time I really can't afford to. I took a new job last fall; rather than supplying a car, my new employer does a monthly car allowance. One of their requirements is your car must be 4 years and newer at all times to qualify. Previously, I have always had a company car, we owned my wife's car, but it was 6 years old. I was in no place to finance at that moment, but thankfully my employer offered to waive the age requirement for 8 months while I settled the family in (my credit score was going to skyrocket in 6/7 months, so it was perfect!!). I am now in month 8; I have banked a 6k down payment from my car allowance, and in order to avoid looking like a useless lying idiot to my employer, I need to buy a car before the end of the month. Equifax continuing to report the student loans are unpaid is killing my score.

- If EX and TU can update accounts as they receive updates, then why can't Equifax?

- Are they really incapable of changing that info during a dispute? Do they really need to sit on it until day 30? The dispute is resolved, the creditor agreed with my claims.

- Is there anything I can do, a certain department I should call?

- Is there a way to "cancel" the remaining items on my dispute so that it will close it?

Thank you in advance for any help/advice that you have!!
