Hello everyone, new member here! I just got my credit report for a mortgage application and there's an item I'm unclear about on the report. There's a Fraud Alert section (never seen it before on the free credit reports, must be something specific for mortgage companies), and there's a line that says "CKPT: Trade Contractor--Special Trade on FACS_ File/ (and then there is a different name and my address)". The name listed is unfamiliar to me, but the last name is the same as my landlord's. Is it possible this person is using my social security number for something? Or is it showing up because the person used to live at this address before I rented it? Everything else checks out on the credit report, but I worry about why someone else's information is on my report. Thanks!
Experian has a "FACS +" potential fraud alert system that attempts to identify certain information that might have fraudulent implications.
Google on the Experian FACS + service for information.
