New Here, Quick Question!

I have an old collection account (due to fall off my report in September 09).  The OC is Providian, the CA is Asset Acceptance and the Third Party Collector (just received Dunning two days ago) is a local collection agency.

Should I respond to the Letter with a DV? Or just not respond and  let it fall off my report????  I want to make sure I treat this issue properly.

I know the SOL in Nevada is 4 years, so it is obviously past the SOL.

I believe they have tacked on like 4500 in their "own fees" over the years.  I only have this baddie and one more that falls off in December.

Your response is appreciated.!!!

Re: New Here, Quick Question!

Are you going to app for anything between now and September?

If not, I'd let it be.

If you are certain SOL has expired, then sending a DV letter can't hurt.

Re: New Here, Quick Question!

Thanks for the info! Actually I don't plan to apply for anything for a year.  (This will give myself as well as my husband time to reduce our utilization and work on his credit - which I will probably have many questions about in the next month).  We plan on trying to buy a house next summer.

Again, thanks for your help.  I will just let it hopefully die off in silence.
