Re: New member question about score update

Are you asking about myFICO's monitoring?

If so, myFICO's monitoring is trigger based.  It does not update on fixed intervals.  If you're using the service make sure you're aware of the triggers and that not all activity with a scoring impact is a trigger.

Generally speaking, though, your reports are always updating.  A scoring model will consider whatever data is currently in the report when the score is generated.  Scores can be generated at any time.  Monitoring services may update on specific schedules or based on trigger activity but that doesn't mean that those are the only times that all scores update.  If you apply for credit and a creditor pulls your report and score then a score will be generated at that point in time.

I recognize you from your thread on the CC board. I think you've got cards with Barclay and Lowes. Both of those report after the statement date, as most do. There are other cards (US Bank, some credit unions, etc.) that report at the end of the month regardless of statement date. That's the answer to when your credit card issuers report to the bureaus. I think the previous post answers the other half of the question of when you'd get alerted to the score changes (but I'm not going back to read that post so I could be wrong).
