Wonderin, Hi !!
Could you tell me how you go about trying to get state tax lien deleted?

We're supposedly getting ours deleted because our state tax agent/comptroller couldn't prove that we still owed the taxes. It was easier for both sides for us to pay the "balance" than fight over it.

Most of our records are in storage about 5 miles away, so I was willing to pay $500 rather than spend a month digging through old grocery store receipts, camping gear, knick-knacks and such to get to the record of our tax payments!!

However, if you're asking how to get a PAID tax lien updated to "paid" -- if disputing the status didn't work, you may have needed to obtain what's called a "Release." That will depend on the state ... and that info should be on your state's tax web site.

Again, I do NOT condone disputing accurate info!!!

No I am not disputing the tax. We did owe, and we did pay. I thought you might have had luck on getting them to remove it off of cr. It does show paid, we just wanted it off. I guess i mis-understood you.

I didn't think you were, Rusty ... I just wanted to word my reply so that others who might come here looking for an easy (and dishonest) fix wouldn't get the wrong idea!

Personally, I think we can't expect the CRAs to deal honestly with us if we don't deal honestly with THEM in the first place. Not to say that the CRAs are perfect (you'll find oodles of examples where they've been LESS than helpful), but we can't expect better from others when WE don't GIVE better.

And FTR, even though that's the "deal" that the comptroller agent and we came up with, there's no guarantee (I didn't get this in writing) that they WILL be deleted. He admitted culpability in this, but not in writing, you know?

Have you considered talking to your comptroller and asking them to delete it?
