Ok....in the process of cleaning up my credit. I have 2 credits cards.  One for $2200.00 bucks which is open and one for $1300.00  that was closed about a year and a half ago because I was deliquent.  I have the money to pay off the $1300 dollar card. Now since the account is closed, should I pay it completely off or keep something on it to keep the credit history there. It's unfortunate that it was closed though, looks so bad on the report and they won't reopen it.

Re: Next step

I'd use the money to pay the $1300 CC. Utilization is killing your score.

How does it list on your CR? Does it say "charge-off"? How old is it?

If it is an old card, I'd pay right away without using a PFD. Deleting this account could kill your history. If it is a new card, then I'd set up a PFD with the CC. If it says "Charge-off", then negotiate a PFD if a new acct. If it doesn't say "charged-off", it might say closed by credit grantor, I'd mail payment ASAP in full.

Re: Next step

Thanks so much. It's an old card from 1999ish. So i'll mail in a payment since the account has been closed by grantor. Hopefully my score will go up. Who knows.
