Hello everyone,
I just got married and my husband has a very good credit history. I never had a credit card and I have no credit score. We just tried to add me as a joint account holder on his credit card, and we were denied because I have no credit history. I would like to know if you have any tips about how to convince the credit card company to add me as a joint account holder. I just got my PhD from a prestigious university and now make good living as a research scientist, so I'm thinking that there should be a way to convince them that I'm not "irresponsible" and that they are not taking any risk by adding me to my husband's card.
If you have any insight or input, I would really appreciate it. Please note that I'm not looking for advice about how to build credit. I would like to know how to get added to my husband's card as a joint account holder.
Thank you so much in advance!
You might have to start off by determining if they report authorized users and have your husband add you as an AU until you build some history. Then later try and be added as a Joint Account Holder.
