Hello all,
In looking at my credit reports today, I noticed that the US Dept of Education actually updated my account balance, despite me still being in deferment until 12/10.
I think this is a good thing.. I have started paying it off early.
My high balance w/o interest is 10,640. I made a $3,000.00 payment. My balance is now 8,500. (the missing $1,000. was interest; YIKES!)
So, EQ and TU report both my high balance and current balance, but Experian only reports my current balance..
Should Experian be reporting my high balance as well? Isn't it better for my score if both my high balance and current balance are shown?
I called EX and was told "as far as I know we do not report high balances on installment accounts."
Is this correct? Is it even right?
Thanks!!!
I understand your frustration!
The good news is your EX FICO score isn't taking much of a hit for your student loan not reporting a highest balance. The affect on your score is nil to very little.
