Northland Group?

This is for two Capital One cards. I received a settlement offer form these guys but I think they're asking for too much. The fees have ridiculously inflated the balance amount. The original balances were about $500 each and now they want almost $2,000 for one and $1,500 for the other. Anyway, am I better off doing a DV or PFD?  Should I dispute the amount with the credit bureaus first? One is due to come off in 05/2010 and the other 07/2010.

Re: Northland Group?

The amount they are reporting includes compounded interest that is still accruing. I would try for a PFD first. If they wont do it settle the account. Cap1 is notorious for going to court and getting a judgement filed against you.

Re: Northland Group?

I believe the SOL for sueing me has passed (I think PA is 4 yrs).  I just don't want to wait another 3 years for it to fall off. I will try a PFD. Thanks!
