Good Morning All,
This is my first post so please be kind. I had a son in August and have been paying Child Support Dutifully from day one. His mom and I get along relatively amicably and recently nailed out the parenting plan. As part of the plan, we had planned to have the Child Support withdrawn twice a month from my pay check and auto-deposited into her accounts. As I stated, I am not late and have never been, but since this will be filed with the state, will it have a negative impact on my credit score? I am sitting at 691 (via CreditKarma, as I am cheap
), and hoping to increase that by paying down/off my one credit card with a balance. Thanks for any guidance you can provide,
Respectfully,
Brian
It appears from a Google search that there's an issue only if the payments are not made in a timely way.

Welcome to the forums !! I think you'll find that we're a mostly genial crowd here ![]()
As stated above, I believe that as long as you pay on time as scheduled you won't have anything to worry about. It varies by state, but many states don't report anything on CRAs, at least unless the payments stop.
Also I should point out that FICO scoring is supposed to exclude child support tradelines, since they don't represent an obligation borrowed against and paid back over time. I don't know how this works if there are child support related late payments, collections or judgments though. I suspect they might be included in FICO scoring.

Supposed.
Been there, done that...fought for YEARS to get credit reports corrected.
Make sure that you are NEVER late with your child support.
I was in the system at one time too. Child support obligations/payments never were reported to a cra during my situation of 15 years. However, when I applied for a mortage loan, the title company did find the judgement for the monthly payment and I was required to declare or represent it as a monthly obligation for DTI calculations.
