OC cant verify debt

I just got off the phone with a OC that couldnt find my bill in their system but said that the CA would have the info? How is that possible. The OC is contacting the CA to find out the info about their bill!
The bill is supposedly four years old. How should I respond and/or what are my options? Thanks for any assistance.

Re: OC cant verify debt

Is this paid or unpaid and what is on your reports for OC and/or CA?  What is your DOFD and collecting SOL if this is unpaid?

Re: OC cant verify debt

Debt is unpaid. It shows CA stating the amount and DOFD as 2/2003. SOL in my state is 6 years. Its been removed from one CRA but not the other

Re: OC cant verify debt

Did you dispute the other report and it was verified?

Disputed and it was removed from the other CR. I'm just wondering what leverage do I have if the OC is contacting the CA for their own account?

Re: OC cant verify debt

It appears that the OC has sold this debt to the CA, especially if OC is not reporting on it.  As for leverage, since it was removed from one CBR I'd say that counts for something.  I am asking specifically though, on the CBR where it remains, did you dispute this to that CBR already?

Re: OC cant verify debt

Yes I have been disputing this all year long. Several times it has been disputed. I even offered the CA a PFD but they sent me some paper copy of what appears to be a bill.

Re: OC cant verify debt

When you say dispute, do you mean to the CRA?  I'm asking because there is only so many times they would let you dispute and 'all year long' is making me think you mean something else.

If you have disputed this to the CRA where it still remains, what did the CRA tell you, that it was verified?

If not, re-dispute and see what happens within 30 days.  If you have already gone this route with that particular CRA, send them an MOV letter.

If this gets you nowhere, DV the CA.  Don't PFD until you have them validate the debt... if they even can.

Re: OC cant verify debt

Ok I apologize if I am not making sense. I have disputed a few times with the CRA but they always say it is verified. Also I tried a PFD with CA, but no luck. So per reading the forums I tried calling the OC to see if a PFD could be offered. The OC doesnt have the amount of the debt, she had to look in two different systems to find my name. Debt is almost 5 years old now. She is now contacting the CA for more info, but you suggest a MOV at this point correct? Are there sample MOV letters other than the one on the 101 forum link? Thanks again for you help

Re: OC cant verify debt

From what OP said

CA cannot validate the info because OC has stated they no longer have the information (Given over to CA).  Even so, it sounds like OP is already past the 30 day DV window so legally, CA really doesn't have to respond to DV even though it sounds like many do.
OP has already tried PFD with CA to no avail.  Shouldn't OP try again?
make sure you look at steps 7 and 8.
