Odd Situation...Any Advice?

First off I'd like to thank anyone in advance for anything they can tell me that would help.
Situation is in the next couple of months my fiance and I will be buying a home..so needless to say need to raise the CS up a tad..its in the mid 6's now with only one negative which is a charge off. Problem is I talked with the CA and thought I had everything in line to be shored up...was gonna pay it in full(isnt much) so the CR would read "PAID IN FULL". I requested everything in writing and they complied...but now 2 weeks later...I have not received anything in writing..can not get anyone to call me back...and am basically at a stand still...almost like they don't want my money...odd huh? Any ideas??

Thanks,
JP

Re: Odd Situation...Any Advice?

Probably because you are paying off in full, and they have to report it paid off in full on your reports.   I would send them the money via check or any other traceable method of payment.   Once they cash your check that have to report it paid in full  with or without the letter.   I may take up to 30 days for it to appear on your CReports and if it hasn't been updated than just dispute it with the CR's

It's probably in someone's "To do" box. I would call and ask for a supervisor. A supervisor would probably give you better follow-up than a front line employee. Also take names. If the person you talk to knows you are noting their name they are more apt to follow through on their promises.

Pretty general advise, I know, but it tends to work well in my company. I deal with the public.

Re: Odd Situation...Any Advice?

I also ran into a similiar situation.   I was in a payment plan and just recently paid the debt off in full.  Before I sent in my final payment, I asked for a letter to be sent to me stating that the debt has been paid in full and is satisfied.    That was a little over a month ago and still no letter.   What I did was I went online to my bank account  printed out the copy of my check they cashed, stabled it to my last invoice from them just in case.
I checked my report and it say's paid.
So like I said,  they  HAVE  to report it Paid in Full no matter what, if in fact you do pay it in full whether you receive a letter from them stating they would, or not.   So I would just go ahead and send it in and once they cash the check  start collection all your paper trail and check your reports and dispute it right away if they haven't updated it yet.

Re: Odd Situation...Any Advice?

I have a similar problem/situation.  One of my CC's (reputable company) was paid off in Feb.  When I pulled my report recently, they haven't updated it since June of last year!  I called them today and the rep said she would put in a request to have the account info updated.

I hope they do as I'd hate to dispute this one as they are one of my better history accounts.  I don't want to run the risk of them deleting the account.

And that risk is quite high. Disputing open accounts that have no negative history is illadvised.

Re: Odd Situation...Any Advice?

Yeah, I know.  But...  if I dispute and they delete, wouldn't using the card again make the CC company more likely to report to the CRA's with the new, and much smaller, acct balance?

Yes, but you could lose the age on the account  (assuming it's even reinserted). The TL will report as new which can bring down your score.
