Helping a close friend with his credit recently and noticed he had a multitude of junk cards and some other 'dead end' cards. Having Cap1 unsecured (x2), Disco, and Amex, I recommended he close Surge, Milestone, CreditOne, and OpenSky (along with several unused store and gas cards with very low limits).
Everything went without a snag until he got his updated 3B report and noticed OS had incorrectly reported. Instead of "closed" it was reported as "open" with "credit line reduction" to $0 available on all three CRA's.
Hey, no problem, call and get it corrected. He called, held for 13 minutes for a rep, only to be told their card services dept has no physical number and can only be reached by fax or snail mail.
I can no longer recommend OpenSky as he has to carry this "neg" until resolved through snail mail. BTW, 3-12 pt drop range on his scores.
