Paid CA score went down

I signed up for Fico in January trying to keep up with my credit scores and improve them. In 3 months my score went 504 to 574. One day, I recieved a call from collection agency and in trying not to ruin what I had done I decided to pay it. Well, a few days ago my credit score went back to 504. Seems like in me paying off the debt they reported it to three agencies and in return it lowered my score. It was originally not on my credit report before and now is. Any suggestions on what I can do? Should I write a GW letter even if I have already paid the debt. Any help you can give me. PLEASE...

Always go for PFD and never talk to CA over the phone if you can help it.

As far as what to do now I am sure the experts will chime in soon.

I would call them...is it being reported as paid...when they called...that probably was that 30 day notice call...did they tell you if you paid then they will not report...if it wasn't already reporting...and you paid...they should not have reported it anyway...does it show the date it was opened...I tell others myself not to call a CA...but in this case...I think they need to EXPLAIN....

It was not showing on my credit report before. This is what it shows now:

Status: As Paid

First Del: 9/1/2007

Last Pyt: 3/2008

Description: Not Reported

I don't remember them mentioning to me whether they would report it or not. BIG Mistake on my part.

From now on correspond via mail or fax.

The score drop was prob from new activity on the acct. Try to GW them.
