Re: Paid Charge Off/ Dispute/ Re-Aging Dilemma

Once again.....the account was PAID. There are no payments being made, there is no balance due, and has not been current since 2002. The balance was C/O in 2006, and paid in 2007.

I would still have them send you a payment history.  From looking at what you posted, they show you were late in 03 then not again till 06.  That is probaly where they are getting the 06 CO.

How they come up with this stuff is beyond me.

If one is under a payment plan or forbearance then that can be considered as the account being current.

If you are under a payment plan and  not making the originally required payments, then no, they are not current.  The OC can and most of the time will, mark you as late when on a payment plan.

It happens all the time and the OC normally will not tell the consumer they will be marked late.

Actually, it can be considered current.  Can as in "may", but not "must."

I have seen many instances where the cardholder has negotiated a change in terms with the creditor and given a "second chance" which brings them current and cures the default.  If they mess up again, that is a new event -- a new DOFD -- and whether or not the original late is removed is irrelevant.
