Paid Medical Collections

I have 3 old collections on my TU and EX, they are medical bills. I figured they were for the kids, dates of service were from 2002 and 2003. When my ex-husband went to get a loan at the bank for a car he bought from his mom, they paid these (each around $60) and added it to the loan. So they show as paid, which is correct, but I'd like them gone. So I sent a very nice letter to the CA saying basically, I just noticed these on my CR, and since I don't remember them can you pretty please send me as much information as you have including patient name, dates of service, etc etc. Also, considering their age, paid in full status, and small balances, could you pretty please delete them from my CR? Well, the other day I just got a form letter (3 actually, one for each account) that said my dispute was rejected because the accounts are paid in full. SO I looked at the information, which they did send, and they are not bills for the kids. They are for 3 separate times my EX HUSBAND went to the ER. (he's very accident prone) All show his name as the patient name, and the guarantor name. My name is nowhere on the information. I sent them a letter, with a copy of my original letter, asking them to review my original letter, and asking them very nicely to delete them immediately as I am clearly not [ex's name] nor is he a child of mine. My question is, do you think I'll have any luck with that, since we were married at the time? I live in Indiana.

Re: Paid Medical Collections

I would be very firm with them....it was never your debt!!!   you sent them proof.

I would also dispute with the CRAs....stating *not mine*   send the letter or what you have showing that your name is not on the bill. You do not need to say who the bill was for  just that it wasn't you.

Re: Paid Medical Collections

I forgot to mention, I did dispute with CRA, through EX's online dispute (they were only reporting to TU and EX, not EQ). Came back verified. After my next response from them if they don't delete, I will get VERY firm with them, because.... I just decided to pull EQ, because it was AGAIN past time to get a SW report, and I didn't, and it appears they woke up and realized they weren't reporting to EQ, so now I have 3 additional collections on EQ, and my score dropped 24 points!! (d'oh).

Re: Paid Medical Collections

All this just goes to show that sometimes, if you want to get anything done with corporate America, you have to be a rash on the buttocks of whatever company or agency you're dealing with. Ask for supervisors, directors, managers, FAX numbers, e-mail addresses, and so on.
