Paying down final 2 cards - advice needed

So I have 9 or so credit cards, 7 of them at 0 balance.  the other 2 are:

Citi double rewards

10.200 | 10,300

Amex

9,020 | 16,500

I have 0% balance transfer offers for 18 months for both and i have $3000 to dump into it next paycheck.

1)  where should i apply that 3K?  amex?  Citi?  combo of both?

2) should i try and pay one down to the point where i can fit the enitre balance of the other and consolidate all on one card?

Both cards at 18.99% APR and both currently have 100% of their balance no interest through march 2022 (entire balance of both was transfers in on 0 apr for 12 month promotions)

Re: Paying down final 2 cards - advice needed

This is my opinion, as ultimately both cards are in a dangerous utilization range....especially the Citi.

Given that Amex is known to balance-chase....I would prioritize that one with $2600. It is currently at the 55% UTI range.....with the payment of $2600 that would bring it down to ~39% UTI, which drops it below that critical 40% threshold.  I'm also not certain it would be a good idea to BT the Citi balance back to Amex, again due to the fact that Amex does like to balance-chase.

You would obviously need to make some payment toward the Citi, so the remaining $400 could go there.

Then continue working down both balances, with Amex being priority. The sooner you get that one paid off the better off you're going to be.  I think Citi isn't quite so sensitive, and a 98% UTI is never good, but I think you would have more time to work on that balance. If you get Amex paid off and still have some Citi balance at the end of your 0% promo, maybe check your other cards for any offers.....or consider picking up something like a Diamond Preferred for a new 18/mth 0% BT promo. You could always PC the Diamond Preferred later on to a Citi Custom Cash once you're in the clear.

Dont know when your 0%APR runs out. If its sooner than later. Knock down the maxed out card so you dont go over the limit one interest kicks in. AMEX isnt that high of a balance, Although they could be watching your util on the other account and dont want to end up the same way. Send most of it to pay down the maxed out card and some to AMEX so they dont get antsy.

Put $1k on the Amex account, bringing it below the 50% threshold.

Put the other $2k on Citi.
