Today I was looking at my PenFed supplied FICO score and noticed that they now have Experian credit lock/unlock. They recently changed from providing scores from Equifax to providing scores from Experian. Initially I wasn’t happy with the change but free Experian credit lock makes this change a positive one. Hopefully it's not just a free trial. I haven't explored thr upgrade offer yet but the site allowed me to lock and unlock my Experian file.
Be informed that a "Credit Freeze" is the industry standard. Credit Lock is one of Experian's tools (not the same).
Yeah I don't trust credit locks. Freezes are federally mandated. Locks are the bureaus trying to get out of being legally liable.

You said it very well!
Suspect that few people would actually know?
Great marketing tool. Experian is a royal pain when trying to lock and unlock a legal credit freeze. They hide it and keep trying to leverage the "credit lock" ... fortunately, we have posters such as yourself that keep us informed!
Usually, spend more time BEATING on their website until the unlock or lock the "credit freeze" shows up in the lower left hand corner of the landing page. Aw but, the "credit lock" is conveniently located in the upper right hand corner when coming onto their landing page (amazing?).
There out'ta be a law?! More regulation (NOT). ![]()
