Penfed High Call Volume

Anyone have any insight or idea why Penfed is experiencing "higher than normal call volume" today?  I thought that maybe they had FINALLY update FICO scores (but that was not to be).  Just a strange message that you don't normally see, and makes you wonder what is going on.  Other than the first business day of the month (and yes, most of their customers are government employees, and were paid today), nothing really unusual about today

I didn't see anything on google to indicate an issue, but thought someone here might have information.

Possibly because of government employees getting paid or something wrong with their system.

Could be this and the quarterly offers together

Re: Penfed High Call Volume

I had a similar problem with PenFed last week, I called a couple times and got a busy signal. I waited a couple days to call back and I waited about 5 minutes on hold.

This is a bit unusual for PenFed, but no, I din't know why this is

I got a 25k 12% Personal Loan check in the mail today (which I tore up). Maybe response to offers.

@Funny you mention as I recieved one today as well. It was for $25k @ 10.99%.  Reminds me of the type of check I see at least twice a year from SDFCU.

Re: Penfed High Call Volume

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

My experience is, when something is out of the ordinary, there's a reason.  I've never had a wait when calling Penfed, and never heard of anyone having a long wait.  And yes, it's a major payday for their customer base (but that happens twice a month, so it's not like they wouldn't be expecting higher volume).  It could be something bad (like a run on the bank.  And I REALLY like Penfed, so I don't want to have to worry about their solvency) or something good (like a great deal that everyone wants in on).  Glad to hear it appears to be the latter.

Did you seriously allow your fingers to type this?

Please tell me your account has been hacked and some Bot is trying to spread mis-information via mass SPAM.

A "run on the Bank" ? ? ?

Sadly I never get these from Penfed.  Otherwise I'd cash it and then turn around and pay back $24990 or whatever of it to fiddle with my installment utilization which still sucks blue whale from my mortgage.
