I Googled/MyFico'd this subject but didnt see anything pertaining to my question.
Basically, yesterday I signed up for Penfed membership online. Was charged the $19($5 savings or whatever & $14 donation), however the charge is still pending. I got a notice online to call the 800#. I knew they would be asking about my EQ since it is frozen due to NFCU pulling EQ like it's out of style. I explained to the guy that it's frozen because NFCU strictly pulls EQ & I didn't want any more pulls on it for awhile. He said to become a member they have to pull EQ.
Long story short, I can log onto the Penfed website & see my share savings or whatever account with the -$5. They obviously haven't pulled EQ & I havent seen any HP's for other bureaus, even though it's only been a day. And the $19 charge hasnt fully gone thru on my Cap1 card(usually takes 2 days or so). So, if I can log on to my account & see my account, does this mean I'm actually a member? Or can everyone who isn't neccessarily a member member log on after creating the login info & charging a cc?
I thought you HAD to be HP'd to become a member, but it looks as though this isn't the case if your EQ is frozen?
My guess is your membership will get cancelled if they can't make the pull; CU's have half-way states for new accounts would be my best description of my experiences with them over the years. Varying degrees of infrastructure accessible to you the consumer, but your account may not be fully setup and can fall out of membership status (happened to me with Logix the first time and SDFCU too).
