On my credit report, I have a closed CareCredit account with a perfect payment history. The account was closed twelve years ago by the creditor because I opened a second account with them to replace this one. On all three reports, the closed account has a comment of “Account closed by credit grantor.”
I was informed that this was a derogatory comment, so I disputed to have the comment changed to simply “Closed.” The creditor responded by denying the comment change, but also by deleting my perfect payment history from the EQ and TU reports.
What can I do to have them put the payment history back on this account? Also, if they remove the account from my reports (since it is 12 years old), can I do anything to have them put it back?
Thank you
Wow. You're right, lesson learned.
I miscalculated... the account was actually closed almost 10 years ago. The last payment to them was on 9/12/05.
Even though it was closed that long ago, do you think it will still help to contact the CRA to tell them I didn't want the trade-in removed, just the comment. Or to call the creditor’s credit department to ask if they can put the old acct back on the reports?
Thank you for your help.
