Perfect payment history removed on 12-year old account

On my credit report, I have a closed CareCredit account with a perfect payment history.  The account was closed twelve years ago by the creditor because I opened a second account with them to replace this one.  On all three reports, the closed account has a comment of “Account closed by credit grantor.”

I was informed that this was a derogatory comment, so I disputed to have the comment changed to simply “Closed.”  The creditor responded by denying the comment change, but also by deleting my perfect payment history from the EQ and TU reports.

What can I do to have them put the payment history back on this account?  Also, if they remove the account from my reports (since it is 12 years old), can I do anything to have them put it back?

Thank you

Re: Perfect payment history removed on 12-year old account

First, its not a derogatory comment, and it doest effect you in any way, I would have left it alone.

Secondly...was the acct closed 12 yrs ago, or just recently closed? If you closed it 12 yrs ago, then yes, it can be removed. Closed acts in good standing only stay on your reports for up to 10 yrs.

If you just recently closed it, then I would contact the CRAoand tell them you didn't want the trade-in removed, just the comment.

If that doesn't work, then you can call Synchrony credit department, and ask they put your old acct back on the reports.

Im gonna go with this probably won't happen. Lesson learned. sorry it did happen though. I just did this myself on a 16 yr. acct that was still reporting, and I disputed a late that never happened, and the whole trade-in got deleted. It happens. Im gonna say, you probably won't get it back.

Re: Perfect payment history removed on 12-year old account

Wow.  You're right, lesson learned.

I miscalculated... the account was actually closed almost 10 years ago.  The last payment to them was on 9/12/05.

Even though it was closed that long ago, do you think it will still help to contact the CRA to tell them I didn't want the trade-in removed, just the comment.  Or to call the creditor’s credit department to ask if they can put the old acct back on the reports?

Thank you for your help.

Re: Perfect payment history removed on 12-year old account

nope. closed acts in good standing only stay on your reports UP TOO 10yrs. So, if it got deleted a little early, then I doubt it will be reinserted. I personally should have left my acct alone and let the late ride from 2009. At least my AAOA and AHOA wouldnt have dropped. But in my case, I needed it with my current profile.

It will probably do you no good and wasted time and energy trying to get the acct back on , because it would have dropped off after 10 yrs anyways.

sure, anytime!! sorry it got deleted, this is why its so important sometimes to leave your oldest acct OPEN, even its it a low limit sometimes just for the reporting. Ive lived and learned tooSmiley Happy

I had a kohls credit card from 2003 and discover auto user history fall off reports recently, score dropped about 15 points. I never wanted those accounts to vanish lol
