Phone call with Transunion

I have disputed some information with Transunion and received their feedback in the mail.  The letter instructed me to visit their website.  I did as instructed but could not find out how to see the report, I phoned Transunion and was told they need to verify my identity before they could let me see the info.

First question was with whom I had my car loan.  I gave them one of our creditors and he said no, I gave him another and he said no.  I told him I had two loans and was reading my statements and the info I was giving him was correct.  It turns out the info he was requesting was a car which we had already paid off, some time ago.

I was then asked how much my payment was for, exactly... I do not remember we paid off the car some time ago!  Can you try to remember ...... Uh  200 and something?  No, I need to know the exact amount!  OMG!

Next question, how much was my student loan?  Which one?  I do not know, uhhh why dont you give me the amounts and we will see....

Okay on to the next, where do you work?  I told him and his reply was no.  Well, yes!  I had to go back 9 years before I gave the answer he was looking for.

Is this odd or is this normal?

Pffft!

Re: Phone call with Transunion

I would do like I normally do when I get "crazy" person on the phone with any business.  Hang up and call again to get someone else that is somewhat sane.  This is not normal for Transunion.

Re: Phone call with Transunion

This is totally normal.  They wouldnt give me my report either until i sent in two ids and a utility bill which was not easy because the utilities were in the apartment buildings name and all of my other bills I got online.  The wouldnt give me a report because they had the wrong address from ten years ago, and I couldnt tell them any of my accounts on the report.  I thought that was funny because there were not supposed to be any accounts on it at that time.

Even after two ids and a utility bill, they wouldnt send me a report because one ID said "Ave" and the utility bill I finally got from cable company didn't have anything for "street, avenue, etc."  The only way I finally got one was I called and got some idiot to give me my account information off my report (including account numbers) without my identity verified and then talking to the supervisor and letting them know that I was going to file a report with FTC, BBB, and AG for handing out my info without verifying my identity.

Re: Phone call with Transunion

I had to dispute two items on my TU credit report, so I decided to mail a letter just to avoid the identity verification  process over the phone.  Of course, I already tried disputing online.... but they didn't actually fix the problems.  LOL.

Re: Phone call with Transunion

I got the same thing when I called them.  They were showing I had a current car loan open with a $10,000 per month payment, and the employer they have is from 12 years ago listed as my current one.  The car loan was paid off in 2002 for that amount.
