Previous addresses

Is it a good thing to have your previous addresses listed on your credit report.

Re: Previous addresses

EXP shows the address ID-on each trade line.

I recently zapped all old addresses that were not tied to TL's.

During repair/rebuild I advise people to remove as many addreses as posible.

Why is that can it be a problem like verifying your identity when your apply for new credit. I always thought it was a must to have your previous addresses report on your credit reports i'm confused lol.

Re: Previous addresses

I have lived at the same address for 10 years-

I only have 3 TL's that were not opened at this address- 1 of these was paid off at this address, 1 that will drop tomorrow,

I am VERY consistent in entering my address and have never had an issue verifying my identity.

Re: Previous addresses

It is best to get rid of old addresses. Identity fraud can be a problem. Offers go to old addy someone might be able to get a card in your name. Who needs the grief?

I been denied credit 2 times in the last 2 years for a creditor not being able to verify my identity. If i dispute previous addresses will  they remove them? also the reason i'm asking this is i moved around allot of the last 6 years so my credit reports have like 3 addresses listed my current and the last to address i lived at.

Re: Previous addresses

IF you have any tradelines reporting to Experian with the old addresses you will have to wait until the tradeline is off the report before you can dispute them off online through Experian's website.

Sometimes you can get lucky on the phone with Transunion in getting basically anything removed. Smiley Happy

equifax is a crapshoot. It depends on what side of the bed they got out in the morning. My EQ is clean my SO's has a PO box she cannot get off yet. Must be a might large PO box you would think.

With Experian the chances are no. As long as it is being reported the address will probably be near impossible to remove. I wouldn't dispute a closed positive tradeline either just to get an old address removed because you then run the risk of losing the positive history by having the thing deleted entirely. Removing old addresses is way down the food chain. Way down.

Smallfry, I had no idea I could get old addresses removed; I thought that, since they are accurate as 'previous addresses' they had to stay on there.

When disputing to get them taken off, what's the justification given for removal?  'Not current'?
