Professional Collections - Anyone know about them?

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie, but I've been reading daily for the past two weeks. I wanted to thank everyone who posts on this site...you have been truly helpful! So far, I have 3 CA's agree to delete data from my CR's thanks to the PFD's I received from this site :-)

Now my questions is, has anyone ever heard of Professional Collections, in Portland Oregon? They showed up on my CR for a debt that I owe in the amount of 275.00. I tried to locate them, and I found an address and phone number on the internet. However, when I call them to get more information on my debt do I can do a DV, the number rings forever, and the answering service sounds like a homemade voicemail - nothing business like whatsoever!!

Any ideas???

PROFESSIONAL COLLECTIONS INC   1626 N VANCOUVER AVE   License No: 40027 PORTLAND, OR  97227 Phone: (503) 249-2813 Start Date: 07/07/1981     Renewal Date: 07/31/2008

Never heard of them, but here is some information about them from the state of Oregon's website.

Personally, I wouldn't even call them. Any information you need to DV you can get from CR or online.

NEVER call a CA!!!!!  but now that you have tried they have your phone #. I do not know of any CAs that do not have caller ID!!!!!!!!!

If they call tell them that they must contact you by mail only & hang up!!!

Send a DV  CMRRR to the address on you CR....Do not use an address from anywhere else!

Yes I did try...however, I never spoke with anyone and I share an apartment with my roommate and the phone line is in her name, not mine! I also have never received a call from them since my call to their office 3 weeks ago. I did send a PFD letter to them on 2-5-08, and on 3-1-08, i finally received my RR green card. So we'll see what happens!!

Re: Professional Collections - Anyone know about them?

You should never send a PFD until after the CA answers a DV letter!!!!!

When you are dealing with a CA  first  DV  wait 30 days for an answer....if no answer   dispute with copies of DV  CERT# and GG.......with all CRAs  ask for it to be deleted!

Ok thanks for the feedback. So is it possible to send a DV even though I sent a PFD first, or did I just screw myself?

YES!!!!   if the CA doesn't own or is not assigned the debt any more they are jumping for joy at your PFD letter.

OCs will assign and then take the assignment back and give it to another CA.  Without a DV  you might be paying someone who will take your money & delete only to find it back on CR by another CA.

Well goes to show how clueless I am about this stuff. So if I don't hear back from them in a given time frame, then can I DV them :-(
