Which CBR are you looking at?
Are you a customer of Discover or Chase?
I am looking at TransUnion report. it states underspecial messages at the end of the report that I am 1 has a security freeze in place
2 promotional opt out indefinately.
yet under promotional offers is a CHASE inquiry.
at the time I was not a active customer of chase per se . I had a 2 charge off accounts for the that have since been paid to CA in full last year. earlier this year i did recieved the offer letter in the mail form CHASE and thought why not I applied and got the chase freedom account.
Part of the reason I opt out is to not be bombarded with offers. but I thought the CRA are not to sell my ifoc for promotional offr if I opt out.
So you kinda/sorta are/were a Chase customer. Plus you couldn't have been too upset, you exercised their offer. No damages for you there.
What about Discover?
I did get an offer yesterday in the mail from discover but I am not interested. I shred it instantly hence my current concern and question that if I am opt out why the offers. I have since yesterday re opt out if there is such a thing !! to ensure no more unwanted mail. I just made the 700 club this week so excellent credit is not the reason for the mail . I was never a discover member, I shop mostly at Costco not Sams so i went with Amex not discover a while back. i just wonder how many people info still get sold despite their objection?

I got my pre-app from Discover with FICO at about 690 and a bad history with them and got a big fat approval.
The main question, No!
my point exactly!!! why opt out if it does not protect your information from being passed on to heaven knows who???
granted I took the credit offer from chase I did not need but it really was a dare on my part to see if after having 2 CO accounts with them they would approve me in this credit climate. they did I am not sure what it says about CHASE or me???
Anyway I am going to did into this a little deeper i think despite what creitwherecredit is due says this has to be illegal. i will pose this question in a letter to the FTC and keep you posted.
No i won't file suit .... this is mere curiosity.
You accepted the offer and were approved.
You were not damaged.
You have no grounds for a complaint. Don't waste people's time.
