Public Record from Aug. 01

Hi
A have a PR on my credit report from an apt complex that I cosigned the lease (huge mistake). Nevertheless, it was filed on Aug. 01 and it was paid in 2003. Shouldn't this be off my CR now in Sept. 08? Your response will be greatly appreciated.

Actually, if it was paid in 2003, it will come off in 2010, I believe.

Re: Public Record from Aug. 01

Aug 01 + 7 years = July 08

Dispute to old to report -

The only PR That stays until paid is a Tax lien ( and this is ussualy limited to 10 to15 years depending on the CRA)

The only other PR's that stay on more than 7 years are BK7 and dismissed BK's and those are 10 years.

And unpaid judgments where the company owed continues to update your judgment (not sure of the legal term for that) with the courts.

It's called "renewing" a judgment. And AFAIK, it gives the courts and the CRAs another shot at reporting. It certainly allows for another shot at garnishment, attachment, etc.

I dunno for sure though ... anyone else know if renewing a judgment (in essence, making the judgment "new") allows for another 7 years on your CRs?

Re: Public Record from Aug. 01

There is nothing in FCRA that allows a judgment to remain for more than 7 years,

SOL is a whole different story- it is collectible if renewed.

So now I am lost. Please correct me if I am wrong...If you have a tax lien on your CR and its been paid, that means that it should be removed from your CR since its been satisfied?

Re: Public Record from Aug. 01

Tax liens are different-

7 years after satisfied.

10 or 15 years after entered depending on the CRA-
FCRA- has no limit on how long an unpaid Tax lien can remain.
