Question about getting into AMEX

my friend has no credit history and i was thinking if he got the AMEX Serve prepaid card that might help him get into AMEX for a CC down the road. Would this be possible?

Unfortunately those are two different entities. Getting one won't help your chances of getting another.

Prepaid cards with Amex don't build a relationship much less a credit history. Chase Liquid will earn you relationship, but that's a grain of salt next to a credit history. He'll need a secured card unless he can get on as an AU with somebody.
