Question about late payments

I quit paying my bills in Dec 2006 to save enough money to pay for my bankruptcy due to divorce.  Well I filed bankruptcy three months later in Mar 2007.  Well this makes makes almost every credit account list 60 to 90 days late payments along with included in bankruptcy.   I had excellent credit with no late pays before the bankruptcy.   Anybody have any suggestions on what to do with those reporting included in bankruptcy plus 90-120day latepayments?

My local Credit Union who I didn't file on(32 months of paying on time) refinanced my travel trailer at 7.9%, gave me a truck loan at 6.9% and a unsecured credit card for a CL of $1000.  They said the reason they gave me the credit is because of my good payment history in the past.  But they would not start a checking account for me because my FICO at Experian was 575.  They said it has to be at least 600.  Thats one of the reason for fixing the late pays.

TIA

Re: Question about late payments

You can to to apply for a secured card with a bank in hopes of that bringing your FICO score up. I don't think GW letters would help in this situation but any please feel to correct me on this. Sadie

Re: Question about late payments

You must have had a pretty good score before the filing.  I would guess mid 700's??

Re: Question about late payments

I never really checked it, but I always got approved for the low interest car loans(0.9).  I also had a mortgage at 5.0%.  Those were the good old days.
