Hi Everyone, I need help with the following: I haven’t been using my credit for several years, I recently started checking it and starting it back up. All 3 CRA’s are clean. They are all reporting my new CC and a CU loan (both are only 2 months old). TU and EX are showing those 2 as my oldest accounts, but EQ has an auto loan from (6-2000) as my oldest account. It is from the same CU that present loan is from. EQ shows it last reported (6-2007) and pays as agreed.
My question is: Can I get TU and EX to report this old account?
.
Thanks
The CRAs each individually have their own internal procedure for deleting old accounts that have been closed for a long period, usually around 10'ish years.
It is strictly a database issue, and the period is arbitrary, but usually no shorter than 7 years, which is the period after which many adverse items have become excluded, and thus no longer show in credit reports. They delete without concern of the impact on consumers' AAoA scoring. Their own needs are paramount.
It is not regulated under the FCRA or any regs, and is very sporadic an non-uniform in its application.
The CRA wont care if or when other CRAs have not yet cleaned out their files of old accounts.
