I noticed something when I pulled my 3 bureau credit report one week ago that I hadn't looked too hard at in the past. In the MyFICO scoring section under "Amount of Debt," it's showing a number that's inclusive of a line of credit + my credit card balances. However, when I calculate my utilization percentage, it's only based on the amount of "revolving" or credit card debt I have. Is there some reason why FICO shows a total amount that includes personal lines of credit comingled with credit card (revolving) debt? My utilization in MyFICO is showing <3% with a total revolving credit limit of $292,400 and that doesn't include the personal line of credit. I'm going to make the assumption that a line of credit is considered or bucketed under the "installment loan" category instead of revolving credit.

Interesting.
It's supposed to factor into all three.. number of accounts with balances, total balance and utilization percentage.
How does the account report on each bureau (on the actual reports)? Does it say "Line of Credit?"

Every line of credit I've had reports as revolving utilization and factors into revolving utilization.
Is it a HELOC? They factor into your scores very differently than a personal line of credit is.
What you describe is along the lines of how my HELOC is reported.
It doesn't cout in my total balances on open ended and revovnig accounts for scoring, and my reports show 3% aggrigate utilization, with a balance of $1165.
If my HELOC balance was factored into that, I would currently have 19% overall utilization on revolving accounts, with a balance of around $27k.
It is shown as a "Loan Type: Mortgage" on my MyFico 3B report.
What @markbeiser said. In my experience the personal LOC reported just like a cc, and the HELOC like a mortgage. I've only had one of each however and I never calculated how it fit into the aggregate.
Yes, it's reporting as "Line of Credit" and bucketed in the "Revolving/Open Ended" category....however, when I add up all the revolving (credit cards) balances and the line of credit balances and divide that by the total credit limit, the utilization doesn't match what FICO is reporting. When I back out the line of credit balance from the revolving credit card balance, the utilization percentage matches what FICO is reporting.
On older Fico models revolving account credit limits over a certain amount: somewhere around $31k to $35k were not included in utilization calculations. The same was reported for PLOC.
Not sure what the OPs PLOC amount is. Could it be above some reporting threshold? If not, perhaps the particular institution is coding it differently. That appears to happen with some credit union credit cards and store credit cards.
