Re: IC System misreporting

My brother and I have similar names and unfortunately, IC Systems has reported his debt on my credit report and I need to know how to get this removed ASAP.  I was turned down for housing because of this debt and don't understand how this ended up on my report.  Can someone tell me how to get this removed.  Thanks!!

Re: IC System misreporting

you got several options:

1. Write a letter to the address provided on your CR and explain to them the mix up and see if they'll remove it.

2. Call the Credit Bureau that's reporting the collection and file a dispute as "belongs to someone with similar name" something like that since you say the debt is legitimately not yours.

3. You can file a police report for identify theft and send it to the credit bureau that's reporting it. It'll go under investigation and should be removed then.

Good luck!

First verify if is or is not your brothers account. Are you and your brother living at the same address?

Re: IC System misreporting

Thank you both.  My brother and I don't live in the same place anymore.

Re: IC System misreporting

Both the furnisher and the CRAs use personal identifiers to determine reporting and matching of information to the correct file.

I would put together a list of the most relevant personal identifiers of both you and your brother, and send a copy to both the furnisher and the CRA.

One or the other is mixing up your identifiers.
