Received Property Tax Collection Notice from Legal Firm - Will It Affect My Credit Rating?

I was less than a year late on my property taxes and went to pay them in full.  The state informed me that it had been forwarded to collections.  I contacted collections and they had no record of me.  Went back to the state and after some resistance they "allowed" me to pay the tax bill in full (no penalty), they also claimed that they had mailed it out to collections the day before I paid.

I then contacted the collection agency to tell them the bill was paid in full (and asked if they wanted proof) and to disregard any letters from the state engaging their services.  They said "no problem, we haven't even received anything".

16 days later I get a delinquency notice from the collection agency!  It says "disregard if already paid".  Fine, but is this going to be reported on my credit record?  It never made it to collections.

I would put my nexts week paycheck that this will not report on your credit report. .. usually these kinds of collections are assigned, and they usually DO send dunning notices and try to work with your before repoting to the CRAs... I wouldn't be too concerned if I were you
