Redeemed Reposession

Last year, my fiance had his car repossessed (after being 30 days late.) He paid the month that was due and the outrageous fees associated with it. They told him that it would not be reported to the CRAs. Well, of course, it was. So, he called and spoke to them and they said it was a mistake and they would have it fixed. Well, they fixed it on two of his reports, but not TU. As of this month, TU hadn't been updated since June 07 and still listed it as a repossession and the balance was much higher than what is actually left. After two letters and no results, we disputed the balance through TU. After about three weeks, they updated the balance, listed it as current, but still as a Derogatory account, with 'Redeemed repossession' in the notes. I decided to wait until the next update at the end of March to see if it remained that way.

Last night I checked his reports and now it's back to being listed as a reposession in the Pay Status field. His score had gone up 21 points and now it's right back where it was. The weird thing is, the reported date still says 3/1(even though it wasn't even updated until around 3/20.)

Here's the part that really infuriates me... Now his EX report is listing it as a redeemed repossession. For 9 months, it has been reporting current...I'm guessing that EQ will be changed shortly too.

I know that they have every right to report the redeemed repossession, but they told him they wouldn't and they even fixed it once. Is this going to be an ongoing battle with them? What's the best route to take to have them fix it again and to hopefully keep it fixed? We want to buy a house next year...
