Fair Isaac has continually stated that its impossible for one negative account to cause a serious drop in scoring. This is proof that one negative account CAN and WILL have this effect.

Do a search for an old post of mine. There was an interview regarding the new Fico 2008 scoring model and the individual from Fair Isaac they interviewed stated that the scoring model would be severely inept if having one negative items could result in a substantial drop in scoring.
This is an old thread, but I want to add that I just had a 6-1/2 year Cap One account fall off my reports. It was a $500 original balance with $2500 past due. I gained 100 points. So, yes in fact, one bad Cap One account can hold your points down an entire 100 points. Unbelievable....
The account was a closed charge off from years ago, but Cap One kept dinging me with a late every single month for the past many years. This should not be allowed.

Congrats! CapOne sure does like to add their lates and interest.
ahhh, the days of youre....
yup, they def like the late payment thing.....i thought those sticky Cap 1 accounts would be with me forever!
Here's my fear..they were deleted off of all of my reports (TU,EX and EQ all deleted the accounts) at the end of my 30-day dispute. I haven't yet received the written confirmation or new report. One was scheduled to fall of in April, the other later next year. However, I'm not really sure what the exact dola was - I'm thinking they both may be in April.
Can Cap One go in and reinsert these accounts after the 30-day verification process was completed and the accounts were deleted? I'm worried.. because Cap One was reporting the 30-day lates as recent as last month.
