Robo Collection Calls

I am receiving numerous robo collection calls from different CAs seeking individuals unknown to me.  Unfortunately, they do not provide any method of talking with a live person and even if I press "4" to indicate that this individual is not at this address, the calls continue unabated.  It is becoming intolerable and I need some mechanism to stop these calls.  I have already filed complaints with the FTC and the state Attorney General's office for each identified CA.

Short of having my telephone number changed, I am at a loss.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have caller ID?  If so then you can try googling the caller's number for contact information.  If they don't transmit caller ID, you can set up blocked ID blocking, which means any caller who doesn't transmit caller ID data gets a recording.

You could play along when they call, get a name and address and then send them a Cease & Desist.

Re: Robo Collection Calls

Is the number they are calling a cell phone number by any chance?  If so, they were doing something illegal the very first time they called, even if you were the person they are looking for.  The only exception is if the cell phone number was listed on the application for the debt they are trying to collect.  This only applies to "robo-calls"--live operators can call cell phones.  There was a thread on here a long time ago regarding this.  However, if it is not a cell phone, then a cease and desist (in writing, mailed CMRRR) is the best option.
