SCORE UPDATE (+200)

Hello all,

I just wanted to tell you how THANKFUL I am that I happened to stumble upon this site and how GRATEFUL I am for the information I have obtained from all the knowledgable people on this forum.

Just exactly 1 month ago, all my scores were in the mid 500's.  I followed all the advise down to the "T"

I have PIF'd, DISPUTED, PFD'd, GW'd, NON-PP'd, 1% Utilization, you name it, i've done it.

Just checked my scores today...

Your Latest FICO® Scores Offical FICO Score Seal TransUnionDate: 6/9/2008
EquifaxDate: 6/9/2008
ExperianDate: 6/9/2008

...and more headroom for improvement!

I just applied for a BofA Visa Signature and was approved for $10,000!

P.S. I HATE YOU EQUIFAX! (They haven't posted all updates yet).

Thanks for the congrats!

I've had roughly 9 years of credit, with missed/late payments here and there, a couple of collections, a couple of charge-offs, and high utilization.

I was very fortunate that I was able to negotiate these all on my first try without having to follow-up or re-dispute.  Every request I sent out was just taken care of without any contest.

Can you please share your negotiation techniques, particularly with respect to charge-offs? None of mine have budged in 4 months.

No particular negotiation tactics were used to accomplish these. All I basically did for CO's that had balances remaining, I mailed a PFD letter. For CO's that were PIF, I mailed them a GW letter.

Luckily I must have caught the creditors right at the moment they had no fight left in them. Everything just kind of disappeared or were corrected on my reports without any correspondence from them.

I did have one CC account with 120 days late, but that was purely my fault and admitted to them that it was. Had a family tragedy during that time, and I had sent official hospital documentation (death certificate) along with the PFD just so they knew I wasn't making up some sappy story in order to receive compassion from them.

But besides that, everything else was a smooth sailing.
