SOL question - Comcast

(Credit Collection Agency)
Balance: $200
Date Updated: 12/2002
Original Creditor: COMCAST PONTIAC WATERFORD
Pay Status: >Collection Account<
Remark: >Placed for collection<
Date placed for collection: [ 01/2002]
Estimated date that this item will be removed: 09/2008

Here's my question for the info above.  Isn't the SOL for Michigan 6 years?  If so, can I just argue to have this taken off?  This is regarding a cable box that may not have made it back to the office before we moved...

Thanks!

SOL may be 6 years, but that doesn't affect CRTP. CRTP goes from DOFD and is 7-7.5 years.

Re: SOL question - Comcast

OK - thanks for clearing that up.

I am very confused by the "don't pay off old collections" instruction.

I have a mortgage app coming up probably at the end of summer.  My experian is in the high 600s and my TU is 723 according to the scores you can get here.

Can you tell me if it would be better to pay this or leave it if I have a mortgage application coming up?  Should I try one of those "I'll pay if you delete" letters?

Thanks!

Re: SOL question - Comcast

If it is out of SOL, you can try a PFD. They are more likely to accept once it is out of SOL.

Paying collections will not improve your score, however some lenders require all collections to be paid.

With this about to fall off and being past SOL, your lender may let it slide.

I would leave it and just let it drop!
