SUCCESS!! Retroactive forbearance

Hey guys, I’ve been a lurker here for a while, and tok some advice from the forums about clearing up some late payments on my credit report that we’re from my student loans. I wrote about 5-6 emailing requesting a retroactive forbearance on my account for the economic hardship I was dealing with after having a child several months ago.

They granted the request, and sent me a written statement for the dates, however there is one thing that I was hoping you guys could help me understand. For the dates requested there is an annotation that reads:

“DEFERMENT- DELIQUENT PRIOR TO DEFERMENT”

What would this mean if I attempt to dispute the late payments on my report?

Re: SUCCESS!! Retroactive forbearance

I recently sent out goodwill requests to Great Lakes for a retroactive forbearance for periods of non-payment of my student loan. However, I am still awaiting responses. I am curious as to whether your request was also pertaining to a student loan account.

My interpretation of the annotation is that they granted deferment for the period requested but that they noted that in (the) month(s) prior  you were also delinquent, but perhaps showing leniency toward you, they failed to report this. For instance, my student loan lates span from July 2015 to March 2016. During this period the reporting indicated that I was 90, 120, 150 and 180 days late, but it was never reported as 30 or 60 days late at any point. This means that despite it not being reported to the credit bureaus, I had been in a delinquent non-payment status since atleast May 2015.

Albeit I am myself a novice, I would suggest transmitting another request for a retroactive forbearance that includes the entire period of delinquency and not just the months that are reported as such.
