Wow - thank you everyone!  The amount of support is very encouraging.  It's so ironic that I didn't care about the shape of my credit for so long and now it's almost an obsession!  I'm sure there are a few of you that can relate.    I guess it's just a matter of maturity and wanting the independence a good credit score can bring.  I am so glad to have like minded individuals to discuss issues with now!

Yes this site is awesome. Cujo, You have given me the courage to try for an orchard card. I would like to build some unsecured cards with low ult but I didn't think anyone would approve me. I think by my next pull all my scores should be atleast above the 500 mark thanks to some progress I am making slowly so once my credit is not in dispute I am going to try for the orchard and then premier just like you Cujo thanks.

Very welcome bott. Now with the First Permiere, there is an annual fee of like 79.00 a year. If you pay them via their website, it's like another 6.00 just to use it Which is why I want to dump it now. Only thing is I will lose my 2 year history, but I dont want the card anymore. It has done what I needed it to Orchard I will keep just for emergencies or gas card. Cujo

I agree with Tim. You should promise yourself never to be late ever again that is probably what is hurting you right now. Alot of cards will not touch you with lates under a year old. what ever you are making payments on now get in good with them.

I personally would say wait until you app for anything and correct what you have going on. Do not waste an inq just yet. Wait until you get to at least the mid 500's to start app'ing.

Pre-approvals does not mean instant approve, there is a difference.

As far as the collection that you paid off, send the CA a GW, to see if they will remove.

The things that you are paying off now you should get PFD'S only. It will only help your score if they are charge-offs and are being calculated in your util. Other than that you will just have a paid off collection.
