That's great to hear! Kudos to you, Barclays, the gentleman who called you, and especially @Anonymous for being the leading proponent of bulldogging your way to a totally deserved GW adjustment!
I love it when engagement with this forum makes someone's life better!
Merry Christmas indeed!
Absolutely, @Anonymous deserves a ton of credit (no pun intended)! Was mentally ready to chalk it up as a lesson learned but his messages certainly made me make the effort...and who knew it would pay off.
My future mortgage and car payments thank you dearly BBS!
Very glad to hear you got that removal and super quick to boot! You should see your ~820 score return as soon as the account reports again.
As an aside and certainly not to take the wind out of your sails on this great success, but do keep an eye on your other accounts over the next few weeks. The #1 cause of lenders taking AA is when they see negative information introduced to a credit report, even if it isn't their own as it is a red flag of potential increased risk coming their way. Hopefully the person you spoke with gets the account re-reported quickly and some of your lenders won't ever see the late payment. In the off chance that you do in fact see AA, I good plan would be to contact them after your report updates with the clean account again and let them know it was an error, pull your report and that you'd like the AA reconned.
SUPER Congrats!
Congrats on the success of your goodwill. This kinda post/results just makes my holiday even better.
Merry Christmas and congratulations on getting this taken care of!

Congrats on getting the issue cleared up OP
Certainly is good news.
I use autopay on almost all my accounts, because it simplifies my life. Some accounts are PIF, but others like AMEX are moving into an area of portions of the balance may be financed, portions may be new. Autopay does the maths for me. Having said that, I never let my accounts run on Autopilot. I check them every month and verify on the statement that the bank agrees they will be taking out $x amount on XX/XX/XXXX specifically. My statement review, a few days after each statement cuts, confirms the payment was made so any damage is limited to a few days late. It's been quite a few years since I had any few-days-late due to Autopay being missed, and those were on the bank.
Which leads to the next question for the OP. Is it part of your longer term credit card strategy to have a card that charges a $100 AF, has mediocre rewards levels, and doesn't really have specific perks for travel? If you aren't using it for 3 months or more at a time, that $100 AF is a definite cost of credit, which may be avoidable. Maintaining that credit limit may be in your plan, but with a 820 range score, there are less expensive ways to get there.
@CreditMENA wrote:Well everyone, I promised myself I'd follow up but never did I expect it to be so soon...
Following the advice of everyone here, I googled email addresses to Barclays leadership and found a few. On Sunday I wrote a personalized and short but deliberate email, and asked for their consideration and pressed send into the internet abyss. As I was about to go drop of physical goodwill letters in the mailbox this morning, I received a call from Wilmington, DE! Seeing as how I had just postmarked a bunch of letters there, I picked up thinking "it couldn't be."
I picked up and - much to my surprise - was connected to an absolutely great gentleman who said he had received my email and would be reviewing the situation for me. I thanked him for even contacting me in the first place, retold him my situation, and even found out he grew up where I currently reside.
After a great convo (about mostly non-credit issues), he said he would remove the Past Due from my credit report and would send confirmation letters after the holidays.
So thank you to everyone here who persuaded me to take the time to write as it seems as if my issue will be resolved. Hope everyone enjoys the holidays and hope someone can use this as a case study in the future!
That is fantastic to hear! Glad it's gonna work out for you!
I actually keep this card because I do travel on American often (not enough for status anymore), and basically utilize the free baggage benefit for my wife and I. I can safely say that we get more than $100 of benefits from it which is why I keep it. Same can't be said for my United card which hasn't been used in 3 years and collects an AF...
I keep all of my other spend on the CSR-Freedom-Freedom Unltd. trio.
