Having banged my head against a wall over one or two persistent baddies, I got too wound up in them to appreciate the bigger picture: seven weeks of hard work pays off.
From the mid-500's on 2/16: EQ 534 4/12 642
EX 589 599 (EX hates me BAD!)
TU 551 630
EX and TU: Still dealing with Midland
EX: Still trying to finesse them into acknowledging NYS FCRA. Heck with finesse, I'll pay a lawyer.
Real baddie: last late payment is only a few months old, but the account is now on autopay.
Baddies that went away (all were paid): 2 medical collections, 4 misreported accounts, 3 old tradelines that were deleted (they had very short history and my average age actually increased)
New credit: One small limit CU card, paid to zero. Second card, paid to zero.
UTL: from 87% to 36%. It will go down to 25% at the end of this billing cycle with 2 of 4 credit cards reporting 0 balances.
Hard work, but the victories are sweet.
Next on my hit parade: Getting rid of Midland once and for all.
With these kind of scores and a relatively recent baddie, explainable but acknowledged, can I actually hope for a car note in June? (50% down/50% over two-3 years)?
If so, will a car note help my mix? I have a mortgage and credit cards. That's it.
