Short Credit History by Experian

Oldest account is 40 years (still don't know how as I'm 54) and average age is 15+ years. How can I have a shirt credit history? Both credit cards are over 20 two car loans small and a mortgage over 10. I don't get it.

3 cards is the magic number. It's good you have all 3 types of credit, which is revolving, installment, and real estate. 

as far as cards, you should have 3 minimum.

Neither number of cards nor credit mix should matter for an age-related reason code, and to my knowledge mortgages aren't different from other installment loans as far as FICO is concerned.  Sometimes reason codes are weird.  Some of my EX auto and bankcard scores say I have high revolving utilization right now but my reported agg and individual utils are all <1%.

Maybe the 40yr account is an AU and it's not being considered?  There's language on some CMS regarding 25yrs being the ideal AoOA.  My oldest is 24y6m, AAoA 12y1m and I still get that reason code.  I pay little attention to it as there's nothing I can do about it and I doubt my scores have been impacted.
