Hello, I have been lurking for some time, but I now have a question. I am trying to repair my credit and build my score up. I am wondering if consolidating my loans may help improve my score. I wouldn't worry so much about it, but I have 16 of them sitting on my report. Eight are subsidized and eight are unsubsidized. I guess my real question is what would hurt more - the consolidation loan lowering the average age of my accounts, or having 18 open accounts on my report? Thanks in advance for any help.
