Suggestions welcome

Hello everyone and thanks in advance for any help you can give me.I did something stupid and I'm literally kicking myself for it but it was my fault so I have to take responsibility for it. Basically, my credit really stunk up the place and over many years I pulled it up to where my FICO was about 810 with no missed payments, plus my outstanding charges were low - about $1000 total of all cards. Then somehow, I missed a payment. I'm not sure how it happened ... Something just fell thru the cracks. My score took a huge plunge ... One is 712 now and one is 720. Ironically, the card that I missed the payment on was one of those that are supposed to help you repair your credit. I'm just at a loss what to do as this WAS my fault but until recently my record had been spotless. I'm wondering if I wrote a letter to the company and just fessed up and tell them what happened, that it was my fault and beg for mercy. Does anyone think this will help and if so, who should I address the letter to? The credit manager?

Re: Suggestions welcome

Hello, they type of letter you are referring to is a Goodwill adjustment letter, if you look in the rebuild thread about goodwill letters you can find a lot of information about them and also success rates for the company you are looking for.  But yes its definitely worth a shot to do and I highly recommend it.  You can send it to the address on the credit report, or if someone in the forum has an email contact you could email them and you can even try calling first, if that doesnt work go for the email or regular mail.
