TC upgrade?

I rec'd an alert from my Juniper card that my "transrisk score" dropped 30 points so I logged in to check it out and when I clicked on the more info link it opened a window for True Credit. Now I understand this score is not a FICO but I have been thinking about doing TC since we've recently opened a bunch of accounts. But I decided $14.95 a month was a lot especially if I need to do it for DH too.

Anyway, when I went to close the window a pop-up live chat window opened trying to get me to order TC. They offered a 30-day free trial and then $11.95/month. I decided to go for it. However, it turns out that this is only for TU. If I want all three, I have to upgrade to the $14.95/month. I really feel like I was bait and switched.

So, here are my questions:

(1) If I upgrade, could I potentially be charged the 11.95 AND the 14.95?

(2) Is there any way to get a discount on the service or a free trial for the 3-in-1?

(3) I already have SW. Would it be better to not do TC and just alternate buying TU and EX reports every other month?

Re: TC upgrade?

I'd do TC over SW personally...
08/01/2008 - 472 EQ; 523 TU; 454 EX
03/01/2009 - 574 EQ
08/08/2009 - 648 EQ
01/27/2010 - 671 EQ
07/04/2010 - 713 EQ
01/05/2011 - 730 EQ
05/14/16 - 762 EX

Why is that, if you don't mind my asking?

Re: TC upgrade?

The SW alerts are known to be a little, uh, late sometimes.

TC lets you pull all three as you please. SW is only the EQ FICO score, and no report.

Re: TC upgrade?

I agree, if you can only afford one, and if right now you're doing a lot of active credit report clean-up. TC will let you easily track balance changes, delinquency status, etc on all three accounts.

Just don't let yourself start peeking at their scores (FAKO's) or their advice. I've seen advice on my TC reports that, if followed, would have definitely harmed my FICO scores.

They can go ahead and try to market their scores all they want. But since no one knows the rules of their game (their scoring formula), and no lender uses them for credit risk, these are meaningless scores.

If you can scrounge up a deal on TC, I like the combination of TC for monitoring report changes plus SW for those occasional score alerts that keep me on my toes and motivated. I'm one of those who do better having a carrot dangled in front of my nose. Smiley Happy
