I disputed a couple of items on both mine and DH's transunion report on June 8th and had been axiously awaiting there reply and outcome. Got the responses in the mail today and they deleted one thing, thats great, but the most important thing wasn't even addressed on mine and was deleted from DH's. Why do they have to make life so difficult?
So during our BK7 we reaffirmed our mortgage (I have paperwork), but during the rebuild I realized that TU was listing our mortgage as a closed credit card IIB. They completely ignored it on my dispute response and deleted it from DH's. So clearly I have to do something else o get it reporting. I'm not sure what to do next.
Should I call the mortgage lender and ask them to help correct it at TU for mine? And how do I get it back on DH's?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The CRA is requried to issue a Notice of REsults of Reinvestigation, providing the determination of the disputed information (i.e., verified, corrected, or deleted).
If an item of information that was clearly asserted as being inaccurate was not addressed in their Notice of Results, then the CRA has not completed their requried action on the dispute.
You can either call the CRA and informally request a new Notice of Results of Reinvestigation that provides their decision, or you can file a formal complaint with the CRA or the CFPB addressing their lack of compliance with the statute.
Thank you for the information. I will have to look into that avenue. I forgot to mention the letter stated "The dispute you recently submitted is now complete. If we were able to make changes to your credit report based on the information you provided, we have done so. Otherwise we have contacted the company reporting the information and supplied them with the info and instructed them to review, verify, respond, update."
Could that have anything to do with why the mortgage wasn't addressed in the response? How could the same item be treated so differently on mine and DH's reports? Is there a way to get the mortgage back on his CR? I'm afraid of how the removal will affect his score, but maybe since it was listed as closed it wont be too much of an impact.
This is infuriating... trying to clean up reports so we can try to apply for another card, but I've been informed that we shouldn't apply for anything during a dispute...
Deletion of information after filing of a dispute does not mean that the CRA deleted based on their reinvestigation and finding that the information could not be verified.
A furnisher will often choose to voluntarily delete disputed information on their own rather than conduct an investigation and respond back to the CRA.
Or they could investigate, but choose only to verify or correct with one CRA, and remove their reporting from others, thus simplifying their reporting.
I would speculate that removal from hubby's report was likely a voluntary deletion by the creditor, and not a finding by the CRA that is was not verifiable.
Thank you. I will just try to get all the info and move forward. The mortgage is reporting properly for both of us on EX and EQ so it is there, but man our lowest scores are with TU and I was hoping by getting this reporting properly that we would see an increase. I will just keep trying. Thanks again.
Ok after I calmed down a moment I realized I couldn't get my CCT reports for another couple days, but I was able to look at them updated on credit karma since I havent been on there in a while. I'm pretty sure they deleted it from mine too because it was once there... and now it's gone... just weird that they didn't respond with that info...
I would call your mortgage lender directly and explain that your reaffirmed mortgage is reporting correctly for you & your spouse on EX & EQ and ask them to report it the same way to TU.
That is going to be my next step. Originally I called them before the dispute and after putting me on hold "to confer with a supervisor" they came back and told me that they report the same info to all 3 agencies. They advised I contact the CRA with the incorrect info and that if I didn't get a resolution to call them back to see if they can do anything else. Thanks
