Trouble With Verizon

Was just notified that my fico went from 695 to 615. I'm livid of course, and have already filed a dispute with Equifax.

I cancelled a family plan with Verizon wireless, because the service at my new residence was practically non-existent. They demanded an $875 termination fee, and I told them to send me a detailed billing. Over 60 days later, and only after a follow-up request from me, they finally sent the detail. At that point, I called them and agreed to pay the entire amount over 6 months. I was told by the CSR to NOT call in my initial payment until Friday July 27. If I did, my second payment would be due immediately. So I put it on my calendar to call in and make the payment on the 27th. On that day, as fate would have it, we had huge issues at my work and I forgot to call. The next day at about 1pm, I suddenly remembered the payment and immediately called the number I had been given. I got a message saying they were closed and would not reopen until Monday morning. First thing Monday I called to make the payment. After about 45 minutes on the phone, they finally informed me that the account had already been sent to collections, and there was nothing that could be done about it!

I have yet to receive a collection notice, and yet my credit score had taken a HUGE hit. In spite of the fact that my actual credit accounts have zero issues (always paid on time, at above the minimum.)
Once I find out who the agency is, I will submit a "pay to delete" letter, and offer 50%.

Sorry about the length of this post, and I guess most of is just me venting what a think of Verizon and a credit scoring process that gives so much weight to a matter like this. However, I am very interested in any suggestions that any members have regarding the best ways to get this cleared and my scores restored as quickly as possible.  Thank you.

I have never had this trouble   but you might want to change your SUBJECT to   something like  trouble with verizon....you want to get the attention of people that have delt with verizon.
This listing witt get the attention of people looking at scores.

The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: Trouble with Verizon

My verizon account didn't go to collections agency, instead, verizon themselves reported on my credit reports as a charge off,  for being just days late like you said.

Try PFD with verizon.  Get a real copy of your report  and see exactly what is on there, and who you need to pay.  Verizon never sent me any thing in the mail stating I needed to pay, they just put it on my credit report.

On your real copy, there will be an address for verizon "recovery" department, this is who you send the PFD to.

I would advise against paying until you get the PFD in writing from them, because then you lose all leverage.  I would also try calling the number listed on your real report to see if you can get them to take it off over the phone and fax you something in writing and pay then.

I hate verizon.  Too bad I paid mine before finding this site, because I lost all leverage and am not trying to find creative ways to get this off my reports.

Re: Trouble with Verizon

Smiley MadVerizon are truly a pain in the @&&.and they did me the same way when I cancelled on my report it  says,'' charge-off'' 3 years ago...Placed an amount of $1184 balance on my CR..When I last owed 284 and they wouldnt even wait a few days to collect their money after I had just paid them a 1000 bill and a 800 dollar phone bill..(during this time I had lost my son) and many calls were made...However, I have only disputed and it always come back verified...

I hate them so much Im not trying to GW   PFD or nothing..Smiley Mad Good luck with these vultures..
