Unauthorized credit application by bank?

I recently opened a loan at suntrust and was told about their credit card offers. As always I declined as I have a card I use and do not want too many accounts. The loan was approved and everything went through as planned. About a week later I received a letter denying (too many inquires) me for my credit card application. I denied this card and didn't want to apply for it. I have a credit block on three credit bureau and lifted one for a day to get the loan approved.

My questions would be is this gonna show as 2 inquiries on my credit and what if it were to be approved? Wouldn't this fall under fraud?

Re: Unauthorized credit application by bank?

You are entitled, if you send the denail letter to the CRA within 90 days, to receive a free copy of your CR from the CRA.

Use that to determine whether they pulled more than once.

You must have initiated the request for credit in order for them to have permissilbe purpose.

I would be hesitant in accuing fraud, as that legally requires some showing of intent to decieve.  It may have simply been an honest mistake.

If they pulled without permittilbe purpose, I woudl call them and request they notify the CRA to delete, or at the least, recode as soft.

Re: Unauthorized credit application by bank?

You have to pull your reports to verify.  We can't answer the question about the HP's.

It's also difficult to say with regard to the other question without copies of all the paperwork and without knowing what exactly was discussed.  The specifics matter and all we have is a brief synopsis from your point of view.  We have no idea what you may have missed, overlooked, misunderstood, etc or if you may have granted them persmissible purpose without realizing it.
